We don’t just use any glass. Tempered glass is heated to extreme temperatures and rapidly cooled to strengthen the material, which increases durability and is harder to chip or scratch. If cracked or broken, tempered glass breaks into tiny pebbles so that there is no danger from sharp shards of glass.
